logo-blue.jpgThe overall aim of UNDP is to help the Mongolian people achieve their own human development by eliminating poverty, promoting economic growth, protecting natural resources and building an open and democratic society in which everyone has equal opportunities and rights.

The strategy of UNDP in Mongolia is to bring development partners - government, civil society, private sector and other donors - together to identify alternative development solutions. These solutions should lay the basis for equitable and sustained national development in the transition from a centrally-planned economy to a market economy. UNDP Mongolia focuses its programmes and projects in three thematic areas:

Democratic Governance: We facilitate inclusive, national policy dialogue and cooperation; people's awareness of human rights; and increased accountability, transparency and responsiveness of governing institutions.

Human Development and Poverty Reduction: Faced with a narrow economic base and high aid dependence, we help the Government to integrate poverty reduction and human development into its macro-economic and development policies and strategies.

Sustainable Natural Resource Management: seek to achieve a balance between environment protection and development in the context of the fragility of Mongolia's environment and the high dependence of people's livelihood on natural resources.
